To All Iron County Medical Care Facility Employees:
Thank you for your vote of confidence, and welcome to the Technical, Professional, and Officeworkers Association of Michigan (TPOAM)! As you are probably aware, elections for your new Executive Board have been scheduled for December 6, 2017. Tom Princing will be acting as Interim President and Joe Vrancic will be filling the temporary role of Vice President. Specific information on that meeting and more should have already been posted at the workplace.
Your duly-elected Executive Board and TPOAM Business Agent will be participating in your first official bargaining session with the administration shortly after the meeting. Although there has been some negotiating sessions with your previous union, we will be starting fresh with the Administration. It is very clear what the group is looking to achieve and what it will not accept. Those principles will be guiding your negotiating committee as they work hard to secure the best possible economic package for members.
It is in everyone’s best interest to come together as a unit, no matter who we supported in the recent election. All members start with a clean slate and an invitation to be part of our new dynamic team, even if they have previously opted out of the union. However, in order to participate at any level, all members must pay their fair share. If not, you will not be allowed to vote on the contract ratification, attend union meetings and events, or run for any office. We have included a dues authorization form that needs to be filled out and given to any of your Executive Board members before December 29, 2017. TPOAM has waived dues for December and will be initiating a part-time dues rate, as promised.
Monthly dues are $39.25, but would be discounted to $31.40 if a significant number of employees sign up for the union. Any employee that opts out of the union after that date and wants to sign up later will be subject to a $500.00 administrative/user fee and all dues in arrears. Let’s all get on board and work together to improve our contract and working conditions, and save each other nearly $100 a year by getting every employee involved.
Communication to members will be disseminated through the use of the Union bulletin board, email, our website (www.tpoam.net), and the U.S. mail. Any additional suggestions from the members are welcome.
