The 39th Annual GIANT Awards and Banquet is returning after a two-year hiatus, celebrating the contributions of leaders and organizations in Grand Rapids. Since 1983, Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) has hosted this award ceremony to recognize exceptional leaders who shape the local community’s history, quality of life, and culture. With each award named after a historical local “giant,” their community contributions and legacies are memorialized throughout the honorees’ work.
Kevin L. Clemens Honored
Of the 11 honorees, TPOAM’s Kevin L Clemens, President of Kent County Court’s Union, is nominated for the Martha Reynolds Labor Award. Individuals selected for this award exemplify a strong commitment to creating, developing, and achieving better work environments and opportunities for others. Martha Reynolds was an international representative of the United Auto Workers and an avid workers’ advocate. She was a vital force in labor and community affairs in Grand Rapids.
The awards ceremony is planned for October 1, 2022, at the JW Marriott Grand Rapids. There is limited availability for tickets and sponsorship packages, and they can only be purchased online via Eventbrite starting August 12, 2022.
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test is required to attend.
